That also clears up an easy naming trap. The numbers do not mean 14 mm, 17 mm and 20 mm. A #14 means a nominal 1.4 inch internal diameter, #17 means 1.7 inches, and #20 means 2.0 inches.

If you are measuring yourself, use a flexible tape to measure circumference around the intended wearing position and compare that figure with the circumference measurements below. Do not mistake a circumference measurement for diameter.
